Description
Inase Otsu Machiya B&B: Inase Otsu Machiya Bed and Breakfast is a restored Japanese-style B&B in Otsu among traditional Otsu Machiya townhouses. Once the residence and shop of a local rice seller, it sits in a lake port town on the historic Tokaido Road about 30 minutes from Kyoto city centre. Guests praise the breakfast, service and room comfort.
Traditional interiors and rooms: Rooms have air conditioning, TV, tea and coffee maker, electric kettle, refrigerator, bidet, hairdryer, yukata and slippers. Selected rooms feature tatami flooring and inner-courtyard, garden or mountain views; some include a kitchenette, microwave and a sofa bed. Selected rooms have a private bathroom with a bath or shower; others use a shared bathroom.
Lounge and garden: A communal lounge and a garden provide outdoor and indoor shared space.
Location and access: Located on the old Tokaido route, the town was the last station for westward travellers before Kyoto. Itami Airport is about 53 km away and Kyoto city centre is reachable in around 30 minutes.
